Little Mermaid Cake

We were really excited for this cake.  The cake flavors were red velvet with cream cheese icing and chocolate cake with chocolate mousse.  Once the cakes were covered in fondant, we colored the cake with blue and green spray to resemble the ocean.

We added fondant accents of underwater life such as plants, starfish and more.  Then we molded Flounder and Sebastian out of fondant which was challenging but a learning experience.

We added a mini cake on top which we covered with brown fondant to look like a boulder in the water.  Then we added Ariel on the boulder to complete this beautiful cake.

Wow Wow Wubbzy Cake

So this cake was new for us since we did not know of Wow Wow Wubbzy.  I have to say that it was fun because it is so different.  The bottom tier was a red velvet cake with an awesome cream cheese icing.  The top tier was a vanilla cake with chocolate mousse filling, which i have to say is delicious.  Once the cakes were covered, we cut out mountains, clouds, cactus, grass, butterflies, flowers and a bird.  After adding all the fondant details, this cake looked sooo playful.

Now we had to created Wow Wow's ball and Wow Wow himself.  For the ball, we covered a styrofoam ball with blue fondant and then we added light blue polka dots.  For Wubbzy, we covered a styrofoam rectangle with yellow fondant then we molded his arms, feet and ears.  Then we added black fondant accents for his eyes, nose and mouth.   Sooo cute.

Gary and Heather's Wedding Cake

This was our first Wedding cake. My (Dawn's) brother and Heather were getting married on the beach in Stone Harbor, NJ. They rented a house for the week there and all of their closest family members. It was awesome having my brother and husband helping me tort, filling and cover the cakes.
The top tier is white cake with raspberry chambord filling and white chocolate buttercream. Middle tier is Dark chocolate with raspberry chambord and chocolate mouse and the bottom tier is a french vanilla with raspberry chambord with white chocolate buttercream....The cake was delicious.....
I made the Cala Lilies with white gum paste and dusted with yellow shimmer powder on the inside of the flower.
I covered the cake with scrolls using royal icing and adding silver dragees at the end of each. My sister-in-law bought this silver wire ribbon to put around the bottom of the cake tiers. The M on the top of the cake is a sterling silver M that Heather and Gary bought for their cake topper. To add an added touch I sprayed Shimmer pray onto the cake. Everyone LOVED the cake...I was very proud.

Baby Minnie Mouse Cake

This cake was soo much fun to make.  The bottom tier was a vanilla/chocolate marble cake with a chocolate mousse filling which we covered in pink fondant and then appiled white polka dots.  The middle tier was a red velvet with cream cheese icing filling which we covered in white fondant and then applied royal icing dots with silver dragees.  The name was a cut out of Disney-like lettering.  The top tier was a vanilla cake with a raspberry filling which was then covered in white fondant and then we applied strips of hot pink, light pink, white and orange.  The border was royal icing dots around all tiers.  Finally, we cut out Minnie mouse ears which we topped the cake with for a finishing touch.

Tinkerbell Tree Cake

This beautiful cake was for adorable Cieara's 5th birthday.  At first, we were a little anxious that it was so much but we just jumped in and challenged yourselves.  The cake was a vanilla & chocolate marble that was filled with alternating layers of a chocolate buttercream and cannoli filling.  The cake looked wonderful.  After covering the cake in fondant, the center was cut out so we could place a pillar covered with rice krispy treats in, that was to make the tree stable in the cake.
We then sprayed pink, purple and blue colors on the fondant so the cake could have a colorful, playful look.  Little pink, blue and purple flowers were added to the cake.  After rolling brown fondant logs, we affixed them to the column.  We saw the cake coming together so nicely.  Once the tree bark was finished, we hand painted brown streaks on the tree to give it a realistic feel to the bark.  We cut out blades of grass which we applied around the bottom.
The top of the tree was a round mound of vanilla cake that was iced and cover with assorted sizes of leaves and pretty flowers.  Thanks to Marcelo for help with the leaves.  We hung 2 fairies so they could appear to fly and we placed 2 by the tree.  The finishing touches were the tinkerbell candle on top and the cute purple flower candles around the base.  Then finally, we added some pearl dust to the leaves and grass so the cake had a magical feel.

Coheed & Cambria Birthday Cake

This cake was for Dawn's husband, Marcelo.  A 30th birthday cake.  The symbol is for his favorite band, Coheed & Cambria.  The bottom tier was a delicious vanilla cake that we filled with dulce de leche.  Sooo good!!!  The top tier was a vanilla & chocolate marble cake with an amazing cannoli filling.
After covering the cake with black fondant, we cut out fondant letters and stars for decoration on the cake.  Then we piped a white star border around both tiers.  Finally, the whimsical star candles and the black & white candles finished off the festive look. HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!

Baptism Cake & Cupcakes

Hi all...so this cake was for an adorable little girls' baptism.  The bottom tier was a french vanilla cake with a chocolate mousse filling and strawberry slices.  The top tier was a rich chocolate cake with a white chocolate buttercream filling.  We covered both tiers with the white chocolate buttercream and then covered them in fondant.  For the bottom, we cut strips of fondant in different colors which we applied around the base then piped a little dot border along the edges.

The top tier was new to us.  We made a diamond pattern around the cake which we decorated with silver dragees.  We made a chocolate cross mold for the top of the cake and a pretty pink bow.  We also added little pink flowers around the cake.  We pearlized the cake so it had an even prettier look.

The cupcakes were a french vanilla with white chocolate buttercream that we dyed pink.  We added silver dragees and little white chocolate crosses.

Bridal Shower cake

This cake came out beautifully.  The bottom tier was a white cake with strawberry filling and the top tier was a chocolate cake with strawberry filling.  Both tiers were covered in white fondant and then pearlized, which looked amazing.  We whipped up some chocolate buttercream and then piped the tree branchs on the cake.  Then we applied cherry blossom flowers to the branches in pink and white.  The cake was perfect for a bridal shower.  Congrats Heather.

Twilight Cake

It has been awhile since we had a cake a make, so it was awesome to have a couple cakes the past weekend.  My sister loves the Twilight Saga, so I thought what better than to make a cake representing all 4 books.  The cake was a red velvet with a strawberry filling.  We coverd the bottom tier with white fondant and then added the black diamond accents. The top tier was covered with black fondant.  We pearlized the whole cake so it could sparkle.  We made two chess pieces in white and red with molding chocolate.  The three other accents were: the white flower covered in blood which I brushed on red food coloring, the apple which we covered with fondant and the red fondant ribbon.  A very fun cake.

Margarita Cupcakes

These were amazing!!! I made these for my friends' Michelle's BBQ/Margarita Pary. The cupcake was margarita flavor with a lime cream cheese icing.  Loved the straw and lime accent on top. These were a huge success.

Ladybug cake

We made this cake for a friends 2 year old daughter. We did a ladybug theme. The cake was vanilla with strawberry filling. The whole cake is edible except for the ladybugs antennas. The cake is covered in homemade marshmallow fondant. The leaves and flowers were made from gum paste.

Billiards Cake

This cake was for my dad's 56th birthday. It was a vanilla/strawberry cake with cream cheese icing and strawberry filling. The pool balls were made out of marshmallow fondant.

Blue Velvet Cupcakes

These cupcakes we made for a boy's birthday party. We made two different kinds of cupcakes.  We made blue velvet cupcakes with a cream cheese icing and sprinkled them with a blue sugar.  Then we made chocolate cupcakes with cream cheese icing which we dyed a very pretty blue color.  Then topped them with chocolate sprinkles.

Disney Princess Cake

Who does not love the Disney Princesses, so this cake was very fun to make.  This cake was for a friend's daughters' birthday.  This was a kit that came with a princess picture frame, princess figurines and the torrets.  We made a two tier, two layer vanilla cake and chocolate cake with a chocolate mousse filling and a buttercream icing.  After we layered it, we added the pink torrets along with the princess figures.  Then, we piped the purple door with a basket weave tip and applied the door from the kit.

We then made a handful of purple and pink buttercream roses to scatter along the cake.  Thankfuly, one of us is great at them.  Then we added green grass to the bottom of the cake.  We added a pink window to the back of the castle to give it more flare.

Then we piped green ivy along the castle to complete the look.

St. Patrick's Day Cupcakes

Happy St. Patty's Day!!!   I really enjoy this day.  So I decided to make cute festive treats for my coworkers.  I made green velvet cupcakes and topped them with a Bailey's Irish Cream Cheese frosting.  Yummy.  I have to say the frosting was one of the best I ever had.  I then decorated with a green food mist, dark & light sugar sprinkles and white non-pareils.  Sláinte.

Xbox Cake

So this was a challenging one...but fun.  This was a scratch vanilla cake with a chocolate fudge filling.   The remote was shaped out of Rice Krispy treats.  We made marshmallow fondant and dyed it black.  After cutting and covering the cake and remote, we dyed and molded little pieces of fondant for the joysticks and buttons on the Xbox.  All the little details took a long time but it was well worth it after seeing the finished cake. This was for a 7 year old boy's birthday, so we added a message of Achievement Unlocked - Level 7.  He loved his cake.

Baby Shower Cupcakes

Yum!!! These cupcakes are delicious! Pink Velvet cupcakes and a cream cheese icing. Some of them had pink icing and some had cream. We sprinkled them with pink sugar and edible pearls and were topped off with pink chocolate booties or pacifiers. We also made pink chocolate carriage and bottle lollipops as favors.
